It wasn't ready for a war in Ukraine

After accusing European leaders of sabotaging the US peace process of giving Vladimir Putin everything he wants, the Russian president said that Russia is ready for war if Europe starts one.

The 4717 Shot: First of all, Russia wasn’t ready for war with Ukraine, and that fight has been in a stalemate from about 10 minutes into the first quarter. The play here is to ride the Trump elephant for all it’s worth to peel the America away from NATO and Europe away from itself. The saber-rattling aside, Putin is not doing a bad job of peeling the bloc.

After winning upsets in the last round of elections, the AfD, a far-right anti-immigration party, is now the most popular party in Germany and rattling the coalition of moderates currently running the das Vaterland. The rub is that AfD is more sympathetic to Russia than it is to the EU in general. It started as an anti-Euro party, and Eurozone perpetually teetering on the edge of debt crisis isn’t helping. Either way the calls within Germany are getting louder.

Is a spilt in the Eurozone imminent? Probably not. Plausible? Absolutely.
